In case you want to stop over to congratulate him, Father George Welzbacher has agreed to sit outside the front door of our retired priests' residence 1-2pm this Saturday, June 13th. There is a circle drive by the front door where you can pull up, roll down your window, and chat for a few minutes. Please be conscious of how many cars are behind you as you determine the length of your visit. If you do get out of the car, please be conscious of keeping a safe distance because of his high-risk status and of the fact that he finds it very taxing to stand for very long. He would be delighted to see you as he misses being here terribly!
The Byrne Residence for Retired Priests is located on the campus of the University of St. Thomas, immediately behind the St. Paul Seminary. You enter and exit from Mississippi River Boulevard. My recommendation is to take 94-E to the Cretin Avenue exit. Turn right and head south until turning right on Goodrich Avenue (two streets south of Summit Avenue). Turn right again on Mississippi River Boulevard and then right into the Byrne Residence driveway. Afterwards, when exiting turn right and then right again on Summit Avenue. This traffic pattern will avoid a bottleneck as we want to be courteous to others! (So, ignore your GPS telling you to turn before Goodrich!)
The Byrne Residence has a nice, long driveway to facilitate this event. Please do NOT honk as the other priests may be taking a little post-lunch nap!
The exact address for mailing a card or plugging into your GPS: Byrne Residence

PS. In case you're feeling generous, he enjoys dark chocolate and Barnes & Noble!
