Please feel free to come to any of the below sessions; walk-ins are welcome.
The
Confessions of St. Augustine is perhaps one of the greatest spiritual masterpieces ever written; it is the most widely cited spiritual work beyond the Bible itself. This five-part series will begin to tackle this Doctor of the Church’s great work, while attending adults are able to reflect upon and share insights on the spiritual life and its common struggles in a small group format.
While encouraged, it is not necessary to read
Confessions at this time. We will use the translation by Frank Sheed, but other translations are close enough to work. There are free audio versions easily available online in podcasts, on YouTube, etc.
We will meet on the following Tuesday evenings from 7-8:30pm in Fr. Moorman Hall:
March 3 An Intro to Augustine and The
Confessions March 10 Reflections of Augustine on Childhood
March 17 Augustine’s Turbulent Adolescence
March 24 Augustine as a Young Adult: Fleeing, Searching, Resisting, Intense Suffering
March 31 Reunion with Monica and, at last, Conversion
