"Tenebrae" means darkness or shadows. This prayer service is a traditional meditation on the impending Passion of Jesus through praying the Psalms prophesying His suffering and death. The darkness alludes to the forces of evil which seem to overcome the Light of the World.
Our service begins with a procession of the Cross and instruments of the Passion while Barber’s "Adagio for Strings" is played. The congregation then joins in singing the Psalms. Afterwards, the Youth Choir will sing the famous Pergolesi "Stabat Mater”.
